He is survived by: his wife Geraldine "Gerry" Viergutz; his children, Christopher Nutting, James W. Viergutz, Jr., Dwayne Viergutz and Dawn Johnson; and his sister JoAnn Walker (Robert). He is also survived by three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Lamb of God Church.
