She was predeceased by: her parents, A. T. Carter, Sr. and Sampie Bennett Carter; her husband James Earl Nelson; and her siblings, Louise Chancey, Elouise Slaughter, Ethelle Frier, Louelle Bass, Helen Frier and Aulie "Buddy" Carter, Jr. (Linda).
She is survived by: her children, James Nelson, Jr. of Alford, FL, Terrell Nelson (Denise) of Alford, FL and Amy Sterrett (Chris) of Marianna. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
