He was predeceased by: his parents, Mortimer Sr. Gilbert and Anna Ashman Gilbert; his brothers, Harry and Mortimer "Mort" Gilbert; and his granddaughter Amber Chandler.
He is survived by: his wife Janice R. Segear Gilbert; his sister Betty Kumerant; and his children, Kathy Chandler, Barbara Hook (Dave), Linda Hill, Nancy Baxter, James June (Marsha) and Mable Dewar (Dan). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
