He is survived by: his wife Maxine Mardella Bird of Millsboro, DE; his sons, Jeffery L. Bird (Phoebe) of Smyrna, DE, Richard L. Smith of Newark, DE and Marshall J. Smith of Kauai, HI.; his grandchildren, Christina Hathaway (Brian), Nicholas Bird and Veronica Bird; and his great grandchildren, Dominick Bird and Ava Hathaway.
