He was predeceased by: his former wives, Hazel Hudson Truitt and Anna Mae Neal Truitt; his siblings, John W. Truitt, Isaac Phillip Truitt and Betty Bolton; and his stepchildren, Olen Neal Jr. and Norma Jean Brewer.

He is survived by: his children, Richard Wayne Truitt (Betty) and Virginia Chmielewski (Glendon); his stepchildren, Wayne Neal (Linda), Carol Heck (Bruce Stasi) and James Neal (Carolyn); his daughter-in-law Melva Neal; and also Angie Ward. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
