He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward Smith and Olive G. Smith (Wingate); and his brothers-in-law, Charles Ford and Jerry Gardner. He is survived by: his wife Jane Ann Smith (German); his son Michael W. Smith (Denise) of Millsboro; his sister Anne Ford of North Carolina; his nephew Ryan Ford (Sarah); his nieces, Erin Kiser and Laurie Ford; his sisters-in-law, Nancy Parrish (Bill) and Mary Gardner; and his aunt Jean Smith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins; and a host of great friends.
