He was predeceased by: his parents, John Shaknaitis and Jennie Shaknaitis (Barnativious); and his brother Joseph Shaknaitis. He is survived by: his wife Frances Shaknaitis (Insolia); his children, Mark Shaknaitis (Shelly) of Meriden, Tracy Marti (Edward), Brian Shaknaitis of Bristol, Jason Cohen (Sabrina), Shaina Hamel (Eric) of Bristol and Sarah McCarthy (Daniel) of Harwinton; and his brother David Shaknaitis of East Hampton. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury CT 06708.
