It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Henry Laurence Long Jr. (Watertown, Connecticut), born in Brooklyn, New York, who passed away on August 8, 2020, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Dutton Harder Long; his parents, Henry Laurence and Ruth Long (Walter); his sister Catherine Long Albert; and his son-in-law Frederick "Fritz" Sporbert.
He is survived by: his close friend Jane McCleary Neale; his daughters, Sally Sporbert of Cheshire, Peggy McKee (Chip) of Watertown, Jane Nelsen (Wayne Feigenbaum) of New Castle, N. H. and Molly Stevens (Burt) of Woodbury; his siblings, William W. Long (Ann) of Watertown, David J. Long (Judy) of Naples, Fla. and Nancy Long Lowell of Watertown; his grandchildren, Lindsay Nelsen Schmid, Katherine Nelsen Peterson (Morgan), Matthew Nelsen, Daniel Byrnes, Margaret Byrnes, Heidi Lukos Giraldi (Tom), Krista Lukos Kohler (Andrew) and Sadie Lukos; and his great grandchildren, Tommy, Samuel and Molly Giraldi.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Watertown Lions Club or Waterbury Area Easter Seals.
