He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Jane Strobel (Gandy); his parents, Christian Strobel and Helen Strobel (Whalen); his son George J. Strobel, Jr.; his son-in-law Mickey Wyse; and his siblings, Christian Strobel, Barbara Scott and Janice Salvatore.
He is survived by: his children, William C. Strobel, Sr. (Debra) of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Richard W. Strobel (Lori) of Westbrook, Stephen J. Strobel of New Haven, Susan Strobel Crowe (William) of Canton and Cathleen Strobel Wyse of Litchfield; his daughter-in-law Elaine Strobel of Middlebury; his brothers, Robert Strobel (Kathy) of Watertown and Albert Strobel of Winsted; and his grandchildren, Dr. Nicole Mariano (Tom), Anne Cyr (Brandon), George J. Strobel III (Ashley), Phillip Strobel (Tammy), Jack Strobel, William C. Strobel, Jr. (Tabitha), Hannah Picinich (Mark), William A. Crowe (Kaitlyn), Charlotte Crowe, Samuel Crowe, Megan Strobel Irvine (Lars), Julia Strobel, Jake Wyse (Julie) and Josh Wyse. He is also survived by 20 great grandchildren.
