He was predeceased by: his parents, Motilal Upadhyay and Padma Upadhyay (Gauri); and his siblings, Shashikant, Jagdish and Chandrika.
He is survived by: his wife Zankhana Upadhyay (Jetly); his children, Shetal Datta (Vishal) of Malvern, PA and Seema Walker (Christian) of Franklin, MA; and his grandsons, Arya, Ishaan, Krish, Sai and Avi.
