She was predeceased by: her husband Robert A. Finkelstein; her parents, Marco Barra and Violet Barra (Faivre); and her sister Margaret Lord. She is survived by: her daughter Donna J. DuCotey (Francis) of Torrington; her grandchildren, Joseph F. DuCotey (Sara) and Francis R. DuCotey (Tiffany); her siblings, Richard Barra of Torrington, Janet Vater of Torrington, Linda Kish (John) of Harwinton and Susan Balthazar (Gene) of Winsted; and her great grandchildren, Abigail Bates, Hudson DuCotey, Everly DuCotey, Mia DuCotey and Mackenzie DuCotey. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
After retiring, Joan volunteered at the American Cancer Society in Torrington and as a patient receptionist and patient advocate at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
