It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph E. Smith of Southington, Connecticut, born in Waterbury, Connecticut, who passed away on October 22, 2023, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Smith and Gertrude Smith (Monaghan); his sister Anne Giroux; and his stepdaughter Breanna Joy Hayes. He is survived by: his wife Maureen Hayes-Smith; his adoptive father Ramon Ortiz; and also, Jennifer Ortiz, Alex of Southington and Leeana of Southington. He is also survived by his wife, friends and cousins.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN 38105.
