He was predeceased by: his parents, Calvin Long and Alice Long (Strickland); and his siblings, George Long, Clayton Long, Caroline Murray, Alice Mailloux, Dot Benoit and Martha Kemp.
He is survived by: his wife Rosemary M. Long (Mayo); his children, Herbert Long Jr. of Putnam, Richard Long of Florida, Mark Long of Putnam and Kelly A. Taylor of Putnam; and his sister Clara Sylvia. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
