He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara J. Messier (Heath); his parents, Gerard Messier and Viola Messier (Dragon); and his son Joseph Messier. He is survived by: his children, Gerard Messier, Jr., Valerie Schrump (Donald) of Putnam, Elizabeth Messier of Putnam and Cheryl Piligian (Robert) of Putnam; his grandchildren, Catherine (Bert), Timothy, Heather (Michael), Justin (Angela), Jared (Sarah) and Thomas; and his great grandchildren, Lucas, Xavier, Zachary, Amy, Matthew, Skyler, Kadyn, Lexi, Eli, Trevor and Matulaitis.
Due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic, services are private and have been entrusted to the Gilman Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Church St, Putnam, CT.
