She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph Aaron Matthew, Sr.; her parents, William Matthew and Jeanette Matthew; and her siblings, William Matthew, Michael Matthew and Dianne Matthew.

She is survived by: her children, Stephen Matthew of Driehuis, Netherlands, Paula Matthew of Hamden, Janette Matthew, Joseph Matthew, Jr. of Cheshire and Douglas Matthew of North Haven; her siblings, Ann Harris of Virginia, Jane Matthew Murphy of Texas, James Matthew (Jimmy) and Ronald Matthew; and her grandchildren, Shawn, Jennifer, Marissa, Megan, Aaron, Maxine, Nick, Jace and Elle. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
