He was predeceased by: his parents, Yulia Kapij and Vasil Kapij; and his brothers, Manolko Luba, Volodymyr Luba, Lubomyr Luba, Roman Kapij and Yosef Kapij.
He is survived by: his wife Zofia "Sonia" Kapij; his children, Donna Messenger (John) and Mark Kapij (Heather Stephenson); and his granddaughters, Tanya Messenger and Anya Stephenson Kapij.
