He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Michael and Mary Sullivan Murphy; his siblings-in-law, Joseph Storey and Lois Coffey Murphy; his niece Ann Murphy; and his nephew Michael O'Hanley.
He is survived by: his siblings, David P. Murphy (Judy) of Centerville, MA, Donald L. Murphy (Martha) of Stonington, CT and Marion M. Storey of Uncasville, CT.; his nieces and nephews, Pamela Heller (Louis), Karen Lyman (Lars), Joseph Storey (Audrey), Maureen Peloquin (Leo), Ellen Dengler (William), Marylee Murphy (Fred) and Edward Murphy (Sarah); and also, Stephanie Reed (Alan), Jeffrey Denbow (Nancy), Tammi Lowry (Robbie), Laurie Tolbert and Senior Airman Mitch Tolbert (Flightline Firefighter).
