He was predeceased by: his parents, Maynard and Lillian Petersen (DeGray); his wife Linda Petersen (Lovering); his son Troy Petersen; and his brother Richard Petersen.
He is survived by: his children, Mitchell Petersen (Carolyn) of Enfield and Kimberly Donovan (Kevin) of Enfield; his grandchildren, Rosemary Petersen (Matt Stitler), Christian Petersen, Melanie Petersen, Leah Duncan (William) and Brenna Donovan; and his sister Nancy Liner. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
