He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Hanley and Margaretta Hanley (Lackner); his wife Judy Jones Hanley; his son Peter Hanley; and his sister Jeanette Lawrence.

He is survived by: his daughter Carol Forlenzo. He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
