He was predeceased by: his father David R. Hamel; and his brother Daryl Hamel. He is survived by: his mother Sue Ellen Shook (Anderson) of Hartford; his daughter Shannon Hamel of Bristol; his brother David "Tiny" Hamel of Alpine, WY; his grandchildren, Elijah, Everly and Evan; and his half-brother Jason Shook of Canton. He is also survived by niece and two nephews.
