He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Ries; and his siblings, Mary Graninger, Esther MacGuire, Anna Lane, Carl Ries and Barbara Auberg.
He is survived by: his children, Mary LaHeist, Timothy Ries, James Ries, Carla Salazar, Michael Ries, Kelly Phillipy and Garth Ries; and his sisters, Margarete Moore and Dorothy Ries. He is also survived by 55 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
