He was predeceased by: his parents, William Elliott and Nina Elliott; his grandparents, Charlie and Anna Hitchcock; his brother Lester M. Hemphill; and his uncles, Bobby Charles Hitchcock and William L. Hitchcock.

He is survived by: his wife Julianne; his daughters, Tammy Graf and Ronda Mason (Marlen); his siblings, Carol Chumley (Paul), Donald Elliott (Penny) and Gary Hemphill (Gary Getman); and his stepchildren, Debora Simmons and David Simmons. He is also survived by five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
