He was predeceased by: his parents, Vivian Martin Heffernan and John Louis Heffernan. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Lauren (Dain), Shauna (Evan) and Ryan (Taylor); his siblings, Joan, Pat (Kathy) and Louis; and his grandchildren, Irelynd, Jameson, Graham and Baby Heffernan.
