Kartar Singh Chima Obituary
Kartar Singh Chima, 69, of Yuba City, CA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 17, 2021. He was born on September 7, 1952 in Chima Kalan in Punjab, India to Banta and Nasib Chima. He was the second oldest of 4 children and the only son. He came to the United States at age 13 in 1966 with his father and settled in Yuba City. He attended Yuba City High School and immediately started farming.
He was a proud member of the Sri Guru Nanak Sikh Temple in Yuba City.
Kartar started his career and livelihood in farming. He enjoyed farming from a young age and loved being outdoors. With lots of hard work and determination he was able to purchase his own farms while working outside of the home. Kartar enjoyed vacations to the mountains, especially Lake Tahoe. His favorite team was the 49ers and he very rarely missed watching a game.
Kartar was a truly wonderful man, father, husband, son and brother. He always left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Kartar was a positive and kind hearted person. Nice, genuine, honest, hardworking, happy, and respectful are just a few of the many words used to describe Kartar.
Most of all Kartar loved his family and that gave him much happiness. He valued and cherished his family above anything else. He will never be forgotten and will remain in our hearts forever.
Kartar was preceded in death by his parents, Banta and Nasib Chima and his eldest daughter, Purminder (Pumi) Chima.
He is survived by his wife Surinder Chima, his son Jason Chima, his daughters Bobby Chima-Bains (DJ Bains) and Sumendeep Chima, and grandchild Gavin Bains all of Yuba City.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 11 am at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond Street, Yuba City CA. Prayer services will follow at Sri Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, 2269 Bogue Road, Yuba City, CA.
