He was predeceased by: his wife Doris; his parents, Alice Reed and Eddie Reed; and his siblings, Sammie Taylor, James Thomas Reed, Josephine Jones and Lena Mae Campbell.
He is survived by: his daughter Brandye Teresa Reed; his grandchildren, Michael Bernard III and Asia Capri Malone; his great grandchild Safiya Destiny Bernard; and his sisters, Addie Florence Green, Eddie Lou Reed, Mary Donahue and Clara Britt. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, support groups and friends.
