He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Maria Rosa and João Medeiros Paulo; his wife Zoraida; his son Mauricio Medeiros; his granddaughters, Rhiannon and Gwendolyn; his daughter Dina Lloyd; his son-in-law David Lloyd; his grandsons, Jordan, Nicholas, Tristan and Samuel; his daughter Paulina Telderer; his son-in-law Jonathan Telderer; and his grandsons, Caleb and Jacob. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
As a contribution to the organization, he served as their president from 1985 to 1989, and held many other positions in the cabinet.
