He was predeceased by: his parents, Gertrude Almerine Ferguson and John Marvin Strother. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Stegall Strother; his daughter Wendy Lynn Strother Yancey; his son-in-law Raymond Earl Yancey of Nashville; his daughter Judy Faye Strother of Madera, California; and his grandchildren, Rebecca Elizabeth Yancey Lawrence (Rich Lawrence) of New Bern, Shelby Lynn Yancey of Vinton, Virginia, Urijah James Foster of Madera, California and Kevin Zeke Alfred Bounds of Madera, California.. He is also survived by his family, friends.
