He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Hunter and Genevieve Hunter (McCoy); and his brother Tommy. He is survived by: his wife Christine Elizabeth "Tina" Hunter; his children, Jim Hunter (Seana) of El Sobrante, Kristin Yeager (Wayne) of Elk Grove and Tony Hunter (Carol) of Camanche; his grandchildren, Erika of Paige, CJ, Beth and Ryan; his great grandchildren, Kylan, Ellie and Gemma; and his siblings, Robert, Gerald and JoAnn.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the Jim Hunter Memorial Fund with the Clinton High School Swimming Program at 1401 12th Ave No., Clinton, Iowa 52732.
