He was predeceased by: his parents, B. D. Heard and Ida M. Heard (Skiles). He is survived by: his wife Pauline Blixt; his brother Roland Heard; and his children, Julie Hasley (Ken), Neal Heard (Ruth), Arlene Park (Richard) and Clay Heard (Lorrie). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
