He was predeceased by: his parents, Francisco Caraveo and Micaela Caraveo; his son John Caraveo Sr.; his siblings, Alfred Caraveo, Everett Caraveo, Arthur Caraveo, Richard Caraveo, Manuel Caraveo, Miguel Caraveo, Dolores Caraveo Villegas and Margaret Perez-Leon; and his grandchildren, Daina Caraveo and Adrian Dewayne Caraveo-Pimpton.

He is survived by: his wife Alice Caraveo; his children, Norma Caraveo, Roberta Blecha (Frank Blecha), Gilbert Caraveo Jr., Olivia Caraveo, Diana Valdez (Randy Valdez), Corina Ruiz (Richard Ruiz), Maria Rodriguez and Michelle Caraveo; and his siblings, Perla Rivera, Ernestine Armas (Billie) and Frank Caraveo Jr..
