He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Eugene Ernst and Mary Ernst; his wife Dodie; his children, Todd (Cheri), Cheryl Sloan, Shelly Kaup (Jack) and Sheila Fisher; his grandchildren, Jessica Fisher, Sheena Ernst, Tyler Ernst (Alycia), Alexandra Miller (Josh), Mason Kaup, Maryssa Kaup, Mia Sloan and Ian Sloan; his siblings, Gordon Ernst (Wanda) and Shirley Guthmiller; his grandson Zack; and his siblings, Verna, Norma, Ruby, Pam, Melvin and Myron. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial funds were established in Vern's name for Freedom Express, a volunteer senior transportation program and at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wickenburg, AZ.
