He was predeceased by: his brother Bob. He is survived by: his daughters, Laura Shaffer (David) of Arvada Colorado and Sarah Dimond (Jeff) of Roswell; his stepdaughter Tai Dietrich of San Diego; his grandsons, Scott Shaffer, Ian Shaffer and Collin Shaffer; his sister-in-law Chae Un Engelhart; and his nieces, Jenny Eubank, Julie Mathews and Nancy Gray.
