He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Allen and Edythe Kohn Allen; his former wife Barbara Shayer Allen; his sister Sondra Allen Inserillo Tamshen; his son Sgt. Howard P. Allen (Patience Stevens Allen); his daughter-in-law Erin N. Cross; and his great-nephew Shawn Matheson.

He is survived by: his wife Irene Allen; his daughter Diane Pennington (Greg); his granddaughter Kristina Goers (Breton); his great grandchild Olive; his grandchildren, Dale J Alsobrook Jr. and Devlin M. Allen; his stepgrandchildren, Edwin and Caitlyn Stevens; his son Robert Cross (Shannon); his granddaughter Kylie (Kay); his sons, Brian Cross (Deborah) and Steven Cross; his grandchildren, Haley and Cooper; his niece Lynda Spero (Joe); his great-nephew Ian Matheson (Katie); his niece Debra Taurisano (Frank); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Roxanne Kobashi (Grant), Beckett, Reid Taurisano, Karyna and Noah Taurisano (Renata Tyler); and also, Charlie Bea, Eliza and Noelle Rose Taurisano.
