He was predeceased by: his father Kelley Theobald; his stepbrother Brad Schrum; and his grandparents, Leo, Teresa Goscha, John, Metta Theobald, Burt and Betty Schrum.

He is survived by: his mother Marilyn Schrum (Goscha); his stepparents, Bill Schrum of Phillipsburg, KS and Pat Theobald; and his siblings, Curt Theobald, Topeka, Brett (Jessica Schrum) of Wichita, KS, Kayla (JR Mendoza) of Plains, KS and Tricia Harvey. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews and 6 grandnephews/grandnieces; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

A memorial has been established in Shayne's name at Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
