He was predeceased by: his parents, Maida Turner Whitmire and Grant Edward Whitmire; and his sister Glenda Whitmire Martinez. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Cragg Whitmire; his children, Nathan Whitmire (Allison), Amy Whitmire (Alan Cheshier) of Jonesboro, Seth Whitmire (Mandy) of Trumann and Laura Spires (Todd) of Washington Illinois; his siblings, Edward "Pete" Whitmire of Bradenton Florida and Royce Thompson; and his grandchildren, Samuel of Jonesboro, Mary-Emma of Jonesboro, Larkin of Jonesboro, Will Whitmire of Jonesboro, Henry Spires and Rachel Spires of Washington Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial may contribute to the children's programs at Nettleton Baptist Church or may contribute to funding student school lunches for the underserved in their local community.
