He was predeceased by: his parents, J. E. "Nub" and Lois Ione Hancock Lowery. He is survived by: his children, Joseph Alan Lowery (Laurie) of Erin, TN and Wanda Jean Lowery of Marion, IN; his granddaughters, Hannah, Bethany and Danielle Lowery; his siblings, Alvis Lowery of Harrisburg, Dortha Wilson (Buster) of Harrisburg, Laretta Nance (David) of Trumann and Gail Parnell (Bobby) of Cherokee Village; and his sisters-in-law, Brenda Lowery of Jonesboro and Vickie Lowery of Harrisburg. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
