He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Morgan Coats; his grandchildren, Tara and Toby Pruitt of Magnolia, Texas; and his siblings, Dewayne Coats of Cabot, Darren Coats of Fallon, Nevada and Brenda Peterson of Fallon, Nevada.
