It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Varia Jean Lee of Monticello, Arkansas, born in Bastrop, Louisiana, who passed away on June 6, 2023, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Lloyd Averitt and Rebecca Fudge; her husband Joe N. Lee, Sr.; her daughters, Beverly Burrell-Jefferson and Brenetta Hudspeth; her sister Rosa Fudge; and her son-in-law Dwight A. Hudspeth.
She is survived by: her children, Brenda Banks of Stockbridge, GA, Bonnie Houston (David) of Aliceville, AL and Joe N. Lee, Jr. (Trainette) of Desoto, TX; her siblings, Ruby J. Bowman of Denver, CO, Uvernia McCoy of Seattle, WA, Ora Evans of Bastrop, LA, Earline Lollar of Batesburg, SC and Glenn Fudge of Chicago, IL; and her goddaughter Hope Brown-Byers of Baltimore, MD. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren.
