He is survived by: his children, Irene Payton of West Helena, Arkansas, Hosie Gates, Jr. of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Marva Walker of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Amy Smith of West Helena, Arkansas, Kathy Gates of Indianapolis, Indiana, Geraldine Troope of West Helena, Arkansas and Verdale Gates of Russellville; and his brother Lloyd Gates. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
