He was predeceased by: his parents, Blu Short and Della Mae Short. He is survived by: his wife Merridth Lynn Evans Short; his daughter Donna Lauderdale (Dan); his grandchildren, Hunter Lauderdale (Maranda) and Makena Lauderdale; and his great grandchildren, Liam and Layton Lauderdale.
