He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Knittig and Josephine Kirchner Knittig; his wife Agnes Lienhart; and his brothers, Aloys, Robert, Steve and Andrew.

He is survived by: his children, Mary Jo Kline (Wendall) of Alma, AR, Carol Janowicz, Martin Knittig (Cindy) of Mena, AR, Frank Knittig (Nora) of Little Rock, AR, Tim Knittig of Little Rock, AR and Cathy Trower (Ray). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
