Dee Bertrand Skaggs Obituary

Dee Bertrand Skaggs, 91, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed away at his home on June 27, 2023. He was born on March 30, 1932 in Birdeye, Arkansas to Dr. Everett and Cora Lee Wallace Skaggs. He was a member of the Church of Christ and an army veteran. He enjoyed doing yardwork, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include; loving wife of 33 years: Millie Skaggs of the home; one son: Jerry Don Skaggs (Chella) of Denton, Texas; three daughters: Sandra Hummer (Klaus) of Haskell, Oklahoma, Peggy Clark (Jay Allen) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Donna Michelle Barnhart (David) of Manila, Arkansas; two step sons: James Roland of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Gary Roland of Jonesboro, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; one brother: Robert Louis Skaggs of Harrisburg, Arkansas; two sisters: Beauton Haynes of St. Louis, Missouri and Dolly Peterson of Iowa; and a host of other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by; his parents: Dr. Everett and Cora Lee Wallace Skaggs; four brothers: William Skaggs, James Skaggs, J.C. Skaggs, Carl Skaggs; and three sisters: Elaine Leppers, Jessie James, and Winnie Baker.

Pallbearers: David Barnhart, Jerry Skaggs, Jay Allen, Josh Stovall, Chastin Watts, and Torin Scroggins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. at the Washington Avenue Church of Christ in Jonesboro, Arkansas with Bill Willard and Aaron Dodson officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Birdeye Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye, Arkansas under the direction of Faith Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
