She was predeceased by: her parents, George Allen and Martha Jean Powell Holmes; her brother Phoenix Holmes; her sons, Derrick Ellison and Miles Yates, Jr.; and her former husband Glen Gerstner.
She is survived by: her husband Miles Yates; her children, Betty Jean (Michael West), Elizabeth (John Jordan), Rebecca (Stacy Davis), Sheila (Richard Boyd), Garrett (Stacy Gerstner), Glhenn (Sandi Gerstner) and Carl (Freda Yates); and her brothers, James Holmes, Daniel Holmes, Joe Holmes and Kelly Holmes. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
