He was predeceased by: his parents, Ardith "Shorty" Jasper and Florence Helen Douglas Burkes; his brother Carl Burkes; and his grandson Waylen Burkes. He is survived by: his children, Shane Burkes of Clifty, Shawn (Danae Rowe), Sammy Burkes (Jamie Pointer) of Clifty and Shalena Wier (Mike Yates) of Huntsville; his grandchildren, Sky, River, Summer, Ethan, Alissa, Fanessa, Gabbie, Natalie, Alivia, Brantley, Gabriel, Daxton and Lucas; and his siblings, Gary (Kathy Burkes), Roy (Linda Burkes), Larry Burkes (Sherla Johnson) of Best, Michael Burkes of Hindsville, Richard Burkes (Pam Dozier) of Hindsville, Mary "Susie" McCollum of Lawrence, Kansas, Linda (Larry Byers), Shirley Jo Upson (Lynn Williams) of Wesley and Cheryl Burkes of Goshen.
