He was predeceased by: his parents, Winford Ace and Pearl Sedonia Carter (Craig); his wife Sondra Carter; his siblings, Charlie, Terry Carter and Patsy Johnson; and his great grandchild Mason Carter.

He is survived by: his children, Dale Carter (Laura) of Greenwood and Shelly Kern of Greenwood; his sister Peggy Green of Lavaca; and his sisters-in-law, Pam Carter of Greenwood, Susie Butler of Greenwood and Cheryl Craig (Larry) of Greenwood. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
