He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Carter and Archie Carter (Garner); and his siblings, Truman, Garner, Margaret, Willard, Joanna, Donald, Maurice, James, Claud and Albert.
He is survived by: his wife Glenda N. Myers; his daughter Deana (Jerry); his brother Earl (Emma); his daughter-in-law Joan; his grandchildren, Alan (Lisa), Lee, Ryan, Aubrey (Aaron) and Roman (Tonya); and his great grandchildren, Charlie, Addie, Amelia and Alivia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
