He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin J. Smith and Betty C. Tillmon Smith; and his sister Sally Ann Smith. He is survived by: his wife Betty Strnad Smith; his daughter Sandy Smith Rothwell; his brothers, Thomas Smith and James Smith; and his grandchildren, Colby and Taylor Rothwell.
