He was predeceased by: his parents, O. C. "Gol" and Jewell Smith; his siblings, Chester, Dossie and Morene Couch; and his grandchildren, Jessica Smith and Jamie Perry.
He is survived by: his wife Laura Jean Perry Smith; his children, Mark Smith (Karen Smith), Larry Perry (Laura), Jan Rader and Kaye Cox (Jesse); and his siblings, Jerry Smith (Barbara), Gussie Nance, Bernice Kinard and Charlotte Perritt. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
