Vivian Lee Asbury Heyl Obituary
Vivian Lee Asbury Heyl, 74, of Brookland, passed from this life on April 18, 2024, at her home.
The daughter of the late Glenn and Norma Asbury, she was born in Peoria, Ill., on Jan. 14, 1950. She graduated from Mammoth Spring High School and earned her bachelor's of English degree at Arkansas State University.
She was a lifelong educator, teaching in the public school system, as well as homeschooling her children. She also operated Jonesboro Computer Services for many years with her husband, Larry. After her children were grown, she worked several years as a proofreader at The Times Dispatch in Walnut Ridge.
As supporters of the Northeast Arkansas music scene, she and Larry presented regional musicians at Blues Fest at Craighead Forest Park for 25 years and she was the editor of deltaboogie.com.
An avid reader, she also enjoyed cooking, crafting and playing games with her family. A member of Brookland United Methodist Church, she especially enjoyed her work with the children and youth.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Larry Heyl of Brookland; five children, Sarah Brown (Devin) of Walnut Ridge, Gretchen Hunt (Jason) of Paragould, Kier Heyl (Rosemary) of Jonesboro, Carl Heyl (Courtney) of Benton, and Megan Heyl of Brookland; two stepsons, Uldis Heyl and Mick Bass, both of Colorado; seven grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.
In accordance with Vivian's wishes, she was cremated and a private family ceremony will be held.
