She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Lee and Esther E. Tharp; her husband Leon Smith; and her siblings, Dora Wilson, Dorothy Johnson, David, Ivey and Bobby Tharp.
She is survived by: her sons, Greg Smith (LeAnn) and Joseph Smith (Melissa); and her grandchildren, Dylan, Ethan Smith, Aaron and Lindsey.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made in Vera's memory to Douglas County Church of Christ at PO Box 412 Superior, Wisconsin 54880.
